Russian Design Pavilion: Beijing edition

Beijing, September 25

As a part of Beijing Design Week from September 25 to October 3, 2014 the agencies Creativirus and Profi2profit in collaboration with curators Evgenia Novgorodova and Peipei Han will present the fifth international edition of the exhibition project Russian Design Pavilion. For the first time in China RDP: Beijing Edition will bring together talented Russian designers: Anna Malyakina, Ekaterina Elizarova, Taras Zheltyshev and Alex Petunin.

After the success of pavilions in Moscow, Florence, London and Milan the project will show new trends of Russian design during the most important design festival in China. Beijing Design Week is an annual citywide event co-hosted by the Municipal Government of Beijing, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Ministry of Culture.

RDP exhibition is located in one of the most popular design districts of Beijing – Dashilar Alley. Over the past few years, historic area of Dashilar became a new center for Chinese and international designers and creative companies.

Russian Design Pavilion project also includes a series of special events and presentations for designers, professionals, media and general public:

- Showroom of contemporary Russian design, which will feature the following world premieres: SitECO chair by Anna Malyakina, light collection Naskal, lamps Hobb and Underloupe by Taras Zheltyshev, Ekaterina Elizarova, after the September exhibition in 100% Design London, will bring to Beijing a light collection Chapiteau, and Anna Malyakina will also showcase a series of objects from artificial stone – a lamp Waterdrop and bathroom sink Uovo, which have been successfully presented at the latest RDP edition during Milan Design Week.

- The official presentation of the international project RUSSIAN DESIGN PAVILION and a round table with Russian designers, participants of Beijing Design Week, supported by Russian Cultural Center in Beijing.

- Workshop "Careers for emerging designers in China and Russia" in collaboration with Dr. Chao Zhao, Head of Industrial Design Department and Director of Healthcare Design Innovation Lab in the Academy of Art and Design, Tsinghua University, Beijing.

Russian Design Pavilion is the first project presenting contemporary Russian design at the most significant international design event in China. Organized by RDP team exhibition and events open up new possibilities for Russian designers for the cooperation and work in Asia.
