My intention was to create a solar lamp based on the "Bugnato" shape. Several buildings through the Renaissance period were adorned with "Bugnato" elements, a sort of concrete pyramid pattern. Each pyramid has 45° faces, essential to play the typical chiaroscuro effect. I covered the top side with six monocrystalline solar cells of 45mm per 25mm connected to three LED. This Bugnato element turned into an self-
sufficient outdoor lamp. The two pyramid shapes, the big external and the small internal one, are vacuum formed in transparent (high impact) PMMA in order to prevent them to be damage by atmospheric agents and scratches. The lamp will be fixed to the wall by a metal frame which can be unscrewed for maintenance while the small pyramid is fastened to the entire lamp by four elements. It was my intention to turn the Bugnato from a heavy concrete element into a light, transparent and jellyfish like one.
