PROFILO PROFESSIONALE
Nature is the Sacred Mother
and Nalj Jewels pays tribute to Nature transforming it into a
jewel. In their design furniture
production, Riva 1920 use wood coming from controlled reforestation
as well as the exclusive Kauri, a 40,000 years old not-fossilized
wood found buried in remote woods in New Zealand.
Nalj Jewels’ works are completely handmade, unique,
finished with vegetable oils in respect of the materials.
Annalisa
Mirizzi and Mimmo Demattia, the couple that go under the name of Nalj
Jewels, two fervent creative researchers of traditional Italian
craftsmanship, on the unique use of materials such as gold, silver,
precious stones, precious and semiprecious stones.
Vast
experience in design and advanced artistic techniques are the basis
of the contemporary creations of Nalj Jewels.
These inimitable
jewelry, sculptures formed by sinuous and feminine lines of great
appeal, have conquered the world.
In fact, the works of Nalj Jewel
fly to different destinations: Qatar, Australia, Turkey, Israel,
England, France, Ukraine, and an exclusive showroom in
Beijing.
Their style is defined and recognizable thanks to the
uncommon combinations of materials that represent the core of their
distinctive jewelry/sculpture. So much so, they become the
protagonists of the collaboration with Riva1920 – design home led
by David and Maurizio Riva - who collects top signatures like Renzo
Piano, Michele De Lucchi, Karim Rashid, Alessandro Mendini, Andrea
Branzi.
From a project of preservation of nature and reuse of
waste wood, "Nalj for Riva " was born as a commitment that
sees Nalj Jewels dedicated to creating a collection of wooden jewelry
exclusively for Riva 1920.
Of particular
interest are the "Briccole of Venice", reclaimed wood
obtained from the posts found in the Venetian lagoon used by
Gondoliers to dock their boats. The special features of Briccole are
the distinctive holes formed by small shellfish on the outer side of
the material. These two kinds of wood, Kauri and Briccole, make a
unique and special bond between past and present, between nature and
human ingenuity. It is this philosophy that led to the fruitful
collaboration between Nalj Jewels and Riva1920, ideas-sharing on the
practice of reuse, recycling and ready made, necessary actions for
the preservation of present times.
