Giovanni Ghiggi Perone - G2P design

Biography:

Giovanni Ghiggi Perone is a “Desinger”. His creative and technical background is a hybrid in which two souls are mixed: that of an Industrial Designer and that of a Materials Engineer. At the same time attracted by the world of Design, Ghiggi Perone, embarks on a path of technical training and in-depth analysis on the principles of Mechanics, Materials and Manufacturing. The purpose of his studies is to get to enhance the aesthetic appearance of design at the highest levels pushing creativity to the limits allowed by technology. For this reason, after obtaining a three-year degree in Materials Engineering, at the University of Naples Federico II, he moves to Milan for a specialization in Design & Engineering at the Faculty of Design of the Politecnico di Milano. Here, he acquires two masters in Design for Plastics and in User Experience Design. During these years Ghiggi Perone collaborates professionally with the University Professor Giuseppe Amoruso for the course of Tools and Methods for Design and Stace Design in Design & Engineering. Graduated in 2013, is immediately hired as a Mechanical design engineer by the company Albelissa Consulting and joins Whirlpool, in the R & D department of the Cooking sector for the design of electric ovens. After a brief experience in the biomedical field in Livanova (Vercelli), he returns to Milan and starts working at Comes Clima as an Industrial design engineer, in the automotive, to design electronic climate control. In Comes, Giovanni further deepens his creative and technical skills and above all acquires the methods and dynamics needed for the management of projects and production. In December 2015 he’s hired by Altran, a company with which Giovanni collaborates until November 2017 for the customer Flex: an occasion to complete his career as a Mechanical design engineer in the design of medical devices (autoinjector/insulin pen). Faithful to his challenge, Ghiggi Perone is now ready to dedicate himself fully to his interests and to develop his professional commitment and creativity in more differentiated fields. He participates, therefore, at the exhibition of Salone del Mobile exposing the prototypes of Tomè and Vertigo. Giovanni Ghiggi Perone, thanks to experience and his multi-faceted training, offers consultancy in the furniture, automotive, biomedical, household appliances, domestic and toys fields.

Vertigo
Vertigo is a balcony garden pot. It is not just like any other pot. Its particular organic form, which makes it appear dynamic, as if it is embracing the plants to stretch them to the sun, combines the functionality of synergistic agriculture with Design and can be placed on terraces, balconies and gardens. The idea comes from a recent form of synergistic vegetable gardening, known as aromatic spiral, increasingly used in agriculture. It’s generally made of stone or brick for exploiting the terrain in a vertical direction. In this way, it’s possible to obtain a natural drainage and exposure according to the position of the sun, creating different microclimates and favoring different dwelling needs for approximately twelve different aromatic herbs. Vertigo can accommodate all the basic culinary plants and thanks to the shape of the bottom similar to a slide, it has a natural drainage that creates different areas of humidity. The upper side, the drier area, it is destined to grow lavender, rosemary and thyme.  The central area, moderately dry, is ideal for parsley, basil and sage. The lower area, a fresh and humid abode, with nutrient-rich soil, is excellent for chives, tarragon and mint. The spiral shape ensures better exposure to the Sun, with sunny spots for herbs such as thyme, sage, rosemary and lavender, and moist spots for green leafy herbs such as mint, parsley chives and coriander. To give to the internal bottom of the vase the shape of a real water slide, the vase was designed to be obtained by molding: chipboard molding of cork, breathable, anti-parasitic and insulating material, or rotational molding of polymeric materials to obtain different color combinations. Therefore, in order to obtain the desired complex shape, given the constraint of the feasibility and the problems of undercut, the vase has been divided into two pieces which are assembled before use. This feature gives greater portability and stackability of the product, optimizing the transport and storage phases.

Tomè
Tomè is a multifunctional divider that divides and organizes spaces furnishing them at the same time. Its name derives from the Greek noun τομή [-ῆς, ἡ], cut. The word characterizes both the shape, obtained by laser cutting or shearing of the sheet, and the function, that is to divide a single large space into several rooms with different functions. It is perfect for separating and joining the living room-kitchen area or the hall of a restaurant or for furnishing the hall of a hotel. Thanks to its functionality and modularity it is also suitable for setting up shops and exhibition spaces for events. Tomè is composed by two modules, bookcase / lamp and hatch / lamp. Each module is wired and can be linked (in series) to the electrical network to illuminate and serve two rooms simultaneously. Even the shelves are modular and made in three different sizes to be mounted indiscriminately both on the three modules.  The development of the project takes into account both structural and manufacturing aspects. All the components have been designed to optimize the transport and packaging phases and can be obtained by blanking the sheet or laser cutting, according to the production numbers.
